National Attendance Record Achieved

FC Thunder, in collaboration with Chevy, hosted a great soccer clinic on September 13, 2011.  Our friends at Chevy were delighted to inform us that we set a new national attendance record.  We had a great turnout - 221 players attended the clinic and it was great fun!!!  We look forward to future clinics and continued support by our players (and families).

Boerne Thunder FC Supports Bastrop Soccer Club

Boerne FC Thunder voluntarily committed to help the Bastrop Youth Soccer Organization as many of their families lost their homes and belongings in the recent fires.

We are proud of the Boerne community who contributed to support Bastrop soccer families in their time of need with “gently used” soccer balls, socks, shorts, shirts, cleats, and shinguards, as well as other clothing items, gift cards, and canned goods.  In addition, monetary donations were collected and provided to the Bastrop Soccer Club.

Special thanks to Roger VanSickle and David Perryman for driving this effort.

Dean also is a phenomenal all-around athlete, beyond soccer. In 2007 as a high school freshman at the age of 15, he competed in the United States Navy Seal Fitness Challenge. He easily won his age bracket and finished a narrow second overall, to an 18-year old competitor.

National 'B' License Achieved

Thunder FC is happy to announce David Rosales, Director of Coaching, recently obtained a National “B” Coaching License (National B) from the US Soccer Federation. Obtaining this license is a significant professional accomplishment.

The National B course (consisting of 20 and 46 hours of classroom and field sessions, respectively) is designed to teach concepts targeted toward coaching players age 16 to college level. Those wishing to achieve the license are required to pass a written exam regarding FIFA Laws of the Game and an oral exam pertaining to tactics and methodology. The National B focuses on recognizing the principles of the game and its technical applications in 9v9 game situations. Coaches learn to teach and implement these principles through functional training sessions while demonstrating a better understanding coaching responsibilities at advanced levels.

Congratulations David – children participating in our programs will certainly benefit from your accomplishment and overall leadership. Well done!
