History
Our club started in 1979 as the Boerne Optimist Soccer League (BOSL). Initially the BOSL conducted recreational soccer seasons in the fall. Initially, there were a few leagues and most of the teams were recreational. Soccer fields were lined in existing baseball stadiums and players needed to negotiate hazards such as base paths, home plate, and pitching mounds.
In the early 1980s, soccer games were played on multi-use fields at Boerne City Park; baseball backstops were added to the soccer fields in early 1990s so to accomodate T-ball games, dad’s pitch, and machine pitching games.
In 1995, the Boerne Optimist Soccer League became a sub-club under the North East Youth Soccer Organization (NEYSO) , a founding member of the Alamo Area Youth Soccer Association (AAYSA). BOSL then changed its name to Boerne Soccer Club. Through its association with AAYSA, the BSC became affiliated with the largest youth soccer groups in the world. AAYSA carries out its functions under the guidance of the South Texas Youth Soccer Association (STYSA), which oversees affiliated youth soccer organizations from Temple to Brownsville and implements standardized competition and training programs under the direction of the US Youth Soccer Association (USYSA), which through the US Soccer Federation is a member of the Federation Internationale de Football Associations (FIFA).
BSC current conducts business as Boerne FC Thunder or FC Thunder.
