Micro Academy: Birth Years 2016-2017

MICRO ACADEMY OVERVIEW

Boerne Soccer Club is excited to announce our newest program, MICRO ACADEMY!

The aim of the Micro Academy is to provide professional coaching to beginner players with the aim of sparking a life-long love for the game of soccer.

The Micro Academy (U6/U7) is a co-ed program focused on ball touches and player development, with a combination of skills exercises and scrimmages.

The Micro Academy progresses into our Academy Program starting at U8, where we strive for players to have a clear grasp of the fundamentals at the earliest possible age before competition.

BSC Micro Academy players are coached by our experienced, dedicated, nationally licensed team of coaches to a club curriculum in accordance with the United States Soccer Federation (USSF). This curriculum is designed and implemented by directors and coaches to nurture the technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of a player within a team environment, while fostering a love for the game.

Meet our Academy Director: Ian Johnson

Ian brings over 25 years of coaching and team management to BSC, where he has coached teams and players throughout Select and Academy programs in New Jersey, Washington State, Georgia, and Texas.

Ian has been in the U.S. for 19 years following a semi-professional playing career in England, where he has since earned multiple qualifications, including his USSF A License.

Ian was appointed the BSC Academy Director in December 2021.

“What I love the most about coaching soccer is seeing players grow and develop throughout the years into not only more confident players but more confident people, through being part of a team.” – Ian Johnson
