United Premier Soccer League Announces Texas Expansion Club FC Thunder

Boerne (Tex.)-Based Pro Development Club Joins the UPSL for 2018 Fall Season

May 30, 2018 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce FC Thunder as a new league member starting with the 2018 Fall Season.

Based in Boerne (Tex.), FC Thunder will begin UPSL play in the Central Conference South Division and host its UPSL home games at Boerne City Park (106 City Park Road, Boerne, TX 78006) in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards

United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "Texas continues to show its love for the UPSL, and we're pleased to welcome FC Thunder to the league. Strong youth clubs have served as the backbone of American soccer for 30-plus years, so it's only natural that we see more and more jump into a Pro/Rel Model as the UPSL remains ready and willing to connect American Soccer. We wish FC Thunder every success going forward."

Jarred Harriott is the Director of Academy for FC Thunder, a youth soccer club based in Boerne (Tex.). Founded in 1979, FC Thunder offers recreation and travel teams to more than 300 local players in the greater Kendall County (Tex.) area.

Harriott, 27, is from South Florida and was recently involved in the creation of Plantation FC (UPSL). He will serve as Head Coach of FC Thunder.

FC Thunder Head Coach Jarred Harriott said, "We wanted to create that youth-to-professional pathway for our younger players to get them further looked at for college and professional teams. The UPSL is the perfect platform for us. There's a lot of talent here for such a small town, but also lot of people who have never thought about the opportunity and we're here to change that."

FC Thunder Director of Coaching Wayne Bartlett, 32, also will play a role with the team. FC Thunder is operated by a board of directors.

FC Thunder will announce upcoming tryout dates and an upcoming game schedule.
